Expeditor

General Description

The Expeditor will expedite the transfer of materials, examine materials received, verify parts numbers, and check discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.  This position will compare work tick specifications to materials used to verify appropriate assignment.

Duties

  • Coordinates shipments from manufacturer to project locations
  • Supports the procurement of missing or damaged materials and arranges the return of surplus and scrap materials
  • Assists the Procurement Lead with weekly and monthly reporting
  • Assists the Procurement Lead with document transmittals, uploads to the document management system, and retrieves documents
  • Manages routine calls with manufacturers and maintains meeting minutes
  • Manages the collection, retention, and distribution of quality documents associated with major materials
  • Maintains routine communications with Material Yard Leads to ensure that all required materials are available when required
  • Supports the Project Controller and Procurement Lead with purchase order preparation and invoice reconciliation
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
  • Performs special projects and completes other duties as assigned or requested

Required Experience and Education

  • High School diploma, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office applications

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Experience with J.D. Edwards ERP System

  • Self-starter who can work independently while supporting the needs of the team
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Customer service and effective time management skills

  • Travel:  Yes
  • Percent of Time:  Up to 10%
