General Description
The Sales and Use Tax Manager will conduct sales and use tax analysis to support the organization during the bids/proposals process, project set-ups, and the duration of the project. This position will review and address any indirect tax issues, file company tax returns, and assist with contract reviews.
Duties
- Works with operations, business development and tax departments to include indirect tax estimates in job pursuits and researches tax requirements as needed
- Prepares multistate and local sales use and gross receipts tax returns
- Ensures timely tax filings by managing a tax compliance calendar
- Supports the tax reconciliation process
- Prepares tax accruals, as needed
- Reconciles accounting software with tax software
- Reviews resale certificates for exempt customer sales and file support
- Assists with annual 1099 reporting requirements
- Prepares annual reporting for cooperate deliverables
- Coordinates property tax compliance
- Assists in month-end close as requested
- Communicates with taxing jurisdictions, resolves inquiry requests and provides audit support
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and yearly required tax reports and analyses
- Reviews Accounts Payable invoices for indirect tax issues and coordinates corrections as necessary
- Researches and reconciles tax discrepancies within the general ledger
- Acts to resolve issues which helps the team to work effectively in the daily A/R and A/P transactions
- Establishes process improvements and makes recommendations to leadership
- Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures
- Performs special projects and completes other duties as assigned or requested
Required Experience and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 5+ years of multistate, indirect tax accounting experience in support of a large, national corporation or within the public accounting sector
Preferred Experience and Education
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA)
- Experience within the Construction industry
- Experience with Vertex software is a plus
